Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Pattanaik has announced that all health personnel and other services who lost their lives due to COVID-19, they would be treated as Martyrs, provided funeral with State honours and 50 lakh insurance also.
“We have a rich tradition of honouring our courageous hearts who fight for the country and acknowledge their extreme sacrifice. In the same spirit, we propose to recognise and honour the valiant work being done by our COVID warriors,” said Mr Naveen Patnaik.
He said that “The Government will ensure that Rs. 50 lakh is given to all health personnel (Public & Private) and all other support services who lose their precious lives in the fight against COVID-19. The state will treat them as Martyrs and provide State funeral with State honours.”
As a community, we should be very grateful for this bold and selfless service being rendered by our doctors, health professionals and other support services. Please remember that any action against them is an act against the State. In case anyone indulges in any activity that will disturb or dishonour their work, especially criminal action will be taken against them including invoking the provisions of the National Security Act.
A detailed scheme of awards would be instituted recognizing their incomparable sacrifice. These awards would be given on the national days and the families of all deceased COVID-19 warriors would continue to receive full salary till the date of retirement.
Odisha Govt. has reported so far a total of 80 COVID-19 cases with one deceased patient, 25 recovery patients and the number of active cases so far 54 patients.
In Jaipur district, 19 nurses and 3 doctors were placed under quarantine due to notice some symptoms of Coronavirus. They had come in contact with COVID-19 positive patients in a COVID-19 hospital.
